Established in the late 1960s,
the company was born when its founder decided to start a synergy with other Italian fruit growers,
with the aim of producing dried prunes – which had formerly been a prerogative of foreign countries.
Packaging was carried out manually or with simple packaging machines.
The company’s activity was at first exclusively focused on drying prunes for industrial purposes, mainly prunes in syrup.
Production was later extended to the packaging of prunes for retail,
initially sold in small groceries and then in larger-scale retailers.
In the late 1990s the company invested in the restyling of its image and on the Italian provenance of its products,
adopting “Monte Ré – Italian Cultivations” as its new commercial brand.
All the products that are grown and sold by the company come from Italy,
namely from areas suitable for the growing of the prune tree,
a Mediterranean plant that fears cold during spring and needs adequate water and warm summer weather.
